Our Governance
Jupiter Primary School is part of Danes Educational Trust.
Danes Educational Trust Board has responsibility for the operation of the Trust, but delegates some of the responsibilities to a local level. Therefore, schools within the Trust have a School Board, comprising of local Governors. The School Board holds four meetings per year. In addition, each School Board has an Admissions Committee and a Senior Staff Pay and Remuneration Committee.

Chair of Governors |
Clare Charlton was appointed Chair in December 2022. Clare brings commercial, marketing and fundraising experience from working across multiple sectors in the private and public sector including Cadbury Plc, British Airways and current leadership role at The Open University.
Clare is passionate about learning and believes everyone should have the same opportunity to succeed and reach their full potential. In addition to mentoring as part of her role at The Open University, Clare works closely with the BBC, Department of Education and with inspirational charities and education specialists. Clare’s passion point is championing dyslexic thinking and creativity in schools and in the workplace. |

Trust appointed Governor | Gemma joined as a governor in 2023 as she has a passion for supporting her local community. She is an experienced Senior buyer in the retail sector and will use her strategic skills to support the school. She is also a qualified mental health first aider. | ||

Elected Staff Governor | Katie joined Jupiter Primary as a member of staff in 2017 and has been part of Jupiter's transition into the Danes Educational Trust. She began her role as Staff Governor in 2023. Katie is Key Stage One Lead and is a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead. Katie is the English subject lead across the school and has worked to develop both reading and writing at Jupiter. | ||

Karen is the Headteacher at Jupiter Primary School. She started teaching in 2004 and followed a progressive path to her current position of Headteacher at Jupiter Primary School. She has always valued the importance of the support and recognition working within a Trust has always offered. She has gained experience and knowledge through many roles over the years from mentoring, coaching, training as an outstanding facilitator and becoming accredited as an SLE before going onto headship. Most recently, in her previous role as Head of Primary School Improvement, she oversaw the teaching and learning and worked alongside the Headteachers of 15 Primary schools. | ||

Elected Parent Governor | Joanna is the parent of a Y2 child. She is a civil engineer experienced in both project management and detailed design of engineering projects. Interdisciplinary communication, people management, and planning are amongst the skills she has relevant to the school context. | ||
Grace Reddy | Elected Parent Governor | Grace joined as a governor in May 2023 and is a passionate mother of two boys who attend the school. As a profession, Grace works as a Duty Control Manager for the Elizabeth Line. She is a committed individual that takes an interest in how parents can work together to improve the school and local community. Grace has previously volunteered as a parent representative in another school and enjoyed being able to contribute towards the school in this way. Grace is a very approachable individual, with a positive mindset and is looking forward to having a deeper involvement with the school community. | ||
Emilia Billett | Trust appointed Governor | Emilia joined Jupiter's school board in February 2024. She is an Associate Consultant with the headhunting firm Odgers Berndtson, where she works with the boards of not-for-profit organisations to strengthen their leadership, support their staff, and diversify their voices. Originally from the United States, she comes from a family of teachers and has since settled in Hertfordshire. She shares Jupiter Primary School's commitment to truly accessible, inclusive education. | ||
Nishan Shah | Trust appointed Governor |
As a Senior Civil Servant at the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, I bring a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to advancing educational outcomes. My passion for education stems from a firm belief in the critical role that primary school education plays in shaping children’s futures. With my parents coming to the country in the 1970s and being a first-generation born here, I am particularly motivated to leverage my unique experiences and insights to benefit the school and the local community. I am dedicated to fostering an environment where every child has the opportunity to thrive and succeed |
